An ode to Blossoms

By and large, only in a very rare event, do people wonder what Blossoms is. Anyway, for those of you unaware, Blossoms is a landmark where books old, new, and rare are loved in the happening streets of Church Street, Bengaluru. Far off, between and beyond the echoes of chaos, and order, sound, and light, hustle and bustle, the bookstore never fails to cast a magical spell and lure you towards it. There’s something fascinating about it (Oh, nobody would disagree). The minute you step into it, it washes away everything, pleasing you in ways you lose track of time and slip into an abyss of serenity. A land where every nook and corner breathes a story, holds a lesson, and carries an unsaid conversation with the scars of the many who were a part of it. It reeks of curiosity, and bleeds of aesthetics capturing the minds one word, one book, and one rack at a time. From the whims and whispers of spirituality and philosophies rooted on the ground floor, the vastness and variety of characters and experiences the first-floor fiction dwell on, to Geronimo Stilton and intriguing questions like “Why does the heart work?” welcoming you to the third floor, there has truly been no place more beautiful that instills a sense of calm and composure.
Indeed a feeling synonyms with that of a home.
Umm, like your mother’s lap, Sambar Sadham, or a safe space filled with familiarity.
But what is it about Blossoms that persuades you to escape the realities of the now and transports you to a state of trance?
Is it the dust of old books that smell of nostalgia? Or the fact that somehow weirdly, every book smells differently? Is it the silence that captivates you? The stillness that follows? Or the postcards that allow you to indulge in moments of recollection? Maybe the pages inspire you? Keeps you flowing? And the poetry fills the voids in your life? Is it the people that step into the same magical bubble where your wavelengths are syncing on some level? Or did someone say a book read by a thousand people is a 1000 different books? Wait, no. Read 1000 books and you can live 1000 lives? Or mere cinematic value? (Let me look for a bookstore Kaadhal!)
Whatever it is, Blossoms book store marks for my favourite place in the city. A go-to destination that melts, grounds, and soothes the soul inside out, always making me want to come back for more and more, again, and again.
There’s something fascinating about it, isn’t it? (Oh, nobody would disagree)
Ebb and Flow into the journey that unfolds between those walls and you’re sure to blossom into a newer version as you step in and step out every time.
In here and there, it’s always the story hour!
